
Theft of mechanically propelled plant is already a very large problem, and is ever increasing. This is affecting the way insurers look at these risks, meaning that insurance premiums are increasing and terms are becoming harsher in line with these increased losses.
The Kosran ECV is a security system fitted to mechanical plant which shuts off the diesel fuel supply and locks the hydraulics (tracks, transmission, steering & boom). The deterrent passively sets after the engine is switched off and therefore avoids the problem of the operator failing to set the system.
The Kosran system is currently the only device that meets the stringent requirements of the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre (‘Thatcham’) under Category P2 – Electronic/Electromechanical Immobilisers.
